Our pick

1. CenturaHeat 4 Person Steam Sauna

Hemlock cabin, electric

9.1/10

This is the sauna we'd buy under £5,000: four seats and an 8kW Harvia stove for £4,200, with Wi-Fi app control, Bluetooth speakers and an LCD panel. The cabin is Canadian hemlock on a 1.8m square footprint and 2m tall, under an asphalt shingle roof, and delivery is free to most areas, kerbside on a pallet.

At £1,050 a seat it's within £50 of the two five-seaters. The hemlock is thinner than 45mm thermowood, so it gives heat back to a cold night faster, and the 8kW stove wants a 40A supply rather than the usual 32A. The warranty is 2 years on the wooden structure and 1 year on the heater and electronics. What puts it first is the money it leaves for the circuit and the base, the two costs that decide the real bill.

Buy it if

  • Four people at the lowest complete price
  • Most sessions will be spring to autumn
  • You want app control in the box

Skip it if

  • You'll use it nightly through winter
  • No room in the consumer unit for a 40A circuit
  • You've set your heart on thermowood

2. Polar Recovery Sauna Cube

Thermowood cabin, electric

9.0/10

The Sauna Cube is the only cabin under £5,000 we found with both 45mm thermowood walls and five seats. It's £4,999.99 with a wooden front, and that includes a 6kW Harvia Vega, L-shaped alder benches, two headrests and a bucket, ladle and thermometer. The room is 200 × 196 × 140cm inside, about 5.5m³, which sits within the Vega's rated 5 to 8m³.

Delivery is free, which not every seller at this price offers. The kit is made to order in 3 to 4 weeks and arrives flat-packed off a tail-lift, 600kg in all. Polar's fitters quote £1,200 to £2,000 to build it, which takes it well over £5,000, so this is the one to choose if you can build it over a weekend with a helper.

The Vega needs a dedicated 32A supply, hard-wired through an isolator or on a 32A commando socket, so an electrician is part of the cost whichever cabin you choose. The warranty is 2 years with professional fitting and 1 year self-built.

3. Outdoor Living Cube Sauna

Spruce cabin, glass front, electric

8.7/10

The Outdoor Living Cube is a big glass-fronted spruce cabin with two 73cm-deep benches in an L, one of them 1.99m long, so one person can lie flat while others sit. With a 6.8kW Harvia Cilindro it's £4,999, 99p under the Sauna Cube, and it's rated for up to 5 people.

The differences are the walls and the warranty. The walls are 36 to 38mm spruce against 45mm thermowood, the front is three tall glass panels, and the sauna has a 1-year Outdoor Living warranty against Polar's 2 years fitted. Kerbside delivery is £149, which takes the real price to £5,148, and Outdoor Living says the build is a job for four people.

The Cilindro needs a 35A hard-wired supply. Outdoor Living's £899 build service puts the cabin up on your base, but you'll still need your own electrician to connect the heater.

Buy it if

  • You want a bench long enough to lie on
  • A glass front onto the garden
  • Five users

Skip it if

  • Your £5,000 has to cover delivery too

4. Palmako Eir Compact Garden Sauna

44mm log kit cabin, electric

8.5/10

The Eir is a compact 44mm spruce log cabin with a 6kW Narvi heater, stones, aspen benches and roofing felt in the £3,890 price, and delivery is free to mainland UK. It stands on a 1.8m by 1.6m footprint, is 2.25m tall and fits 2 to 3 people.

It's a true kit: you build the log walls, lay the felt and treat the untreated spruce yourself. A foundation frame, an EPDM roof upgrade and an assembly service are optional extras, and Palmako puts a 5-year warranty on its wooden buildings. If two or three seats is enough, it's £1,110 under the Sauna Cube.

Buy it if

  • Your budget stops below £4,000
  • You enjoy a build

Best for two

5. Polar Recovery Sauna Cube Mini

Thermowood cabin, electric

8.4/10

The Mini is the Sauna Cube cut down for two: the same 45mm thermowood and black Katepal roof on a 1.67m by 1.2m footprint, with a 3.5kW Harvia Vega included. It's £4,699.99 with a wooden front, £300 less than the five-seat Cube.

Inside it's 200 × 149 × 96cm, which is two adults sitting up, not lying down. The smaller heater still needs a dedicated 32A supply, so the electrician's visit costs the same as for the bigger Cube. At about £2,350 a seat it's the most expensive cabin here per person, and that's the honest case against it: if two might become three, the five-seat Cube is £300 more.

Delivery is free and the kit weighs 450kg. Polar's fitting quote is the same £1,200 to £2,000, and the warranty terms match the bigger Cube.

Buy it if

  • Two regular users
  • A spot about 1.7m by 1.2m
  • Thermowood walls without paying for five seats

  • You want to lie down
  • Guests most weekends

6. Palmako Anita S Barrel Sauna Bundle

42mm timber barrel, electric

8.0/10

£2,190 buys Palmako's smallest barrel with a 3.6kW Narvi Minex heater, heat guard, stones, black roof shingles and aspen benches, delivered free to mainland UK. It's the cheapest complete sauna on this page, £849 off its £3,039 list price, and the barrel is 2m across, 1.6m deep and 2.06m tall.

Palmako rates it for 2 to 3 people, and the inside is 0.9m², so three is a tight fit and two is comfortable. The walls are 42mm timber with an 8mm glass door, the heater must be connected by a qualified electrician, and Palmako's 5-year warranty on wooden buildings applies. It's the right buy when the budget is the first constraint and the sauna is for one or two.

  • A complete sauna for under £2,500
  • One or two regular users
  • A spot about 2m by 1.6m

Skip it if

  • Three adults every session

Smallest circuit

7. CenturaHeat 2 Person Steam House

Hemlock cabin, electric

7.9/10

The CenturaHeat 2 Person costs £3,060, and its maker specifies a 16A hard-wired supply, smaller than the 32A to 40A circuits most cabins here need. The 3kW stove sits in a hemlock cabin 1.2m wide and 1.05m deep, with app control and an onboard panel.

Small heater, thinner walls: it takes longer to get hot on a cold evening than the thermowood cabins, and at 2.3m it's the tallest two-seater here, though still under 2.5m. It works out at about £1,530 a seat. Buy it when the electrical work is the expensive part of your project, because a smaller circuit can mean a much smaller electrician's bill.

Buy it if

  • A big new circuit would be expensive at your house
  • Two users
  • Most sessions in the warmer months

Skip it if

  • You want fast heat-ups in winter
  • You want thermowood walls

The all-in price of each sauna under £5,000

Every price on this page includes a heater. None includes the circuit or the base, and not all of them include delivery. This is what each seller adds before the sauna can be used.

Then come the two costs no seller covers. Every heater here is hard-wired by an electrician on its own circuit, and the size of that circuit, from 16A for the CenturaHeat 2 Person to 40A for the 4 Person, affects the bill, so check the electrical requirements for a garden sauna against your consumer unit first. And every cabin needs a level, free-draining base that takes its weight plus the people inside, from 450kg for the Mini to about 850kg for the Outdoor Living Cube, and the options for a sauna base run from paving slabs to a concrete slab.

A worked example: the Sauna Cube all-in

Here is the Sauna Cube, the thermowood option, costed from the order to the first session, with typical ranges for the circuit and the base, which no seller prices.

ItemLowHigh
Sauna Cube with 6kW heater£4,999.99£4,999.99
Delivery£0£0
Dedicated 32A circuit£300£800
Level base£400£1,500
Polar's build service£0, self-built£2,000
Total£5,699.99£9,299.99

So a sauna under £5,000 is really a £5,700 to £9,300 project, and whether you build it yourself is most of the spread. If you'll pay for fitting anyway, your budget is closer to £8,000, and our full outdoor sauna rankings include cabins that only make sense at that level. Self-builders should note that Polar requires a breathable wood oil inside and out to activate the warranty.

Running costs are small by comparison. At the 26.32p per kWh price cap for October to December 2026, an hour at full power costs about £1.58 for a 6kW heater, £2.11 for the CenturaHeat's 8kW stove and 79p for the 3kW stove in the 2 Person. The thermostat cycles the heater once the room is hot, so running costs per session come in lower.

What you give up below £5,000

Below £5,000 you can usually have two of three things: thick walls, five seats, or someone else doing the build. The Sauna Cube gives you the first two. This is how the seven compare per seat.

SaunaWallsSeatsPrice per seatWarranty
Palmako Anita S42mm timber2–3£730 at 35 years on the timber

CenturaHeat 2 PersonHemlock2£1,5302 years structure, 1 year electrics
Polar Sauna Cube Mini45mm thermowood2£2,3502 years fitted, 1 year self-built

The cheapest seat is in the smallest room: the Anita S is 0.9m² inside, so three people share it shoulder to shoulder. For couples, the Mini's thermowood is the better long-term buy, and our 2-person outdoor sauna picks compare it with the small hemlock and cedar cabins. If you like the Anita's shape but need four seats, longer barrel saunas for four cost more but still start under £5,000 with a heater.

Questions buyers ask

Can you get a good outdoor sauna for under £5,000?

Yes. Our pick, the CenturaHeat 4 Person, is £4,200 with an 8kW stove and four seats, and the Polar Sauna Cube is £4,999.99 with 45mm thermowood walls and five seats. Budget another £700 to £2,300 for the circuit and base, and more if you pay for fitting.

What is the cheapest complete outdoor sauna in the UK?

Of the saunas we checked with a heater in the price, the Palmako Anita S bundle at £2,190 is the cheapest, with a 3.6kW Narvi heater for 2 to 3 people. The CenturaHeat 2 Person, at £3,060, is the cheapest square cabin we found with its heater included.

What does a cheap outdoor sauna leave out?

Usually the circuit, the base and the build. Every electric heater needs a dedicated hard-wired circuit, every cabin needs a level base, and most sellers either leave assembly to you or charge £899 to £2,000 for it.

Is a sauna under £5,000 good enough for winter use?

Yes, if the walls are thick and the heater suits the room. The 45mm thermowood Polar cabins and the 44mm log Eir have the thickest walls here, while thinner hemlock and spruce cabins take longer to warm on a cold evening and cost more to keep hot.
